Canvas Stretching
If you have an original work of art on canvas that needs framing, Matisse have several options available to you. First and foremost, we will always ensure that your artwork is protected. With a variety of profiles available, we can get your art up on the wall very affordably. A backing mat is included as standard, to restrict unwanted creatures from calling your art home (or the toilet!).
Framing in a Floating Frame
Once stretched, we can “float” your canvas inside a frame, which has the appearance of floating around the outside of your artwork. This is a clean and modern treatment, and a look favoured by galleries, as it is one of the more affordable options while bring a focus to the image.
The Mechanical bonus of a floating frame is that it acts like a brace around you art stopping it from bowing, warping and protecting it from any potential accidents.
Framing in a Standard frame
If you should want a standard frame directly around your stretched canvas, this is highly affordable, and with nearly 2000 mouldings to choose from, Matisse is sure to have at least one that is in keeping with the character of your art.
Matisse will line the rebate of the frame with special tape so that no timber comes in contact with your art, potentially causing damage.
Many Canvasses (which may have been painted on new synthetic canvas) are able to be mounted and framed traditionally with matboards and glass. While the most expensive option, this provides the ultimate in mechanical protection and opportunities for enhancement.
